Four experienced Baseball Instructors from the Global Sports Partners have taken twenty (20) participants through an intensive 4-day coaches Clinic at the Koshien Baseball field at Labone from Tuesday, September 9 to 12, 2025.

The participants, comprising baseball coaches, players, and aspiring coaches, benefitted from a 1-day theory and 3-day practical sessions, from the boardroom of the Ghana Olympic Committee to the Koshien Baseball field.

In collaboration with the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation, Coaches Justin Rhodes, Bo, Edel and Chad took the ever-ready participants through Transformational Coaching, enlightening the beneficiaries on Believing in the players, challenging them to think, treating them individually and striving to be an excellent role model.

Interestingly, the course did not only see Ghanaian participants, but also baseball lovers from Benin and Togo.

There were basic practical sessions on fielding infield and outfield, bunting, pitching, batting, catching, throwing, baserunning, and team defense. The trained coaches are to remember successful practice planning, goal and culture, preset groups and preset fields.

On Friday, September 12, the resource persons put into practice all they have taught for the first 3 days, by training selected baseball players from all four teams in the National Baseball League, while the participants watch on.

Coaches Justin and Bo shared their few words on how the 4-day course went.

“It has been awesome. We have been here helping the coaches learn how to coach it, and we really want to see Baseball take off in this country, and we believe our presence is a good impact. The numbers we have had have been amazing, and we can see the passion for baseball. And that is where everything starts from.” Bo admitted.

“We planned to build on what we had last year. We at GSP believe in transformational coaching on individualizing the approach to our coaching. While we create the winning attitude and improve the performance of our players, we also want to help them to see that we are not only results-driven but we want to enjoy the process of creating good athletes and coaches. So, it has been a pleasure to train with the participants and see them develop. Many of these coaches are willing to listen and learn and it is always exciting to have that kind of first look on the face and then the lesson.” Justin added.

Vice President of the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation, Edmund Ackom, told TalksenseSports that they hope to see an improved performance in the league in October, from this coaching clinic.

“We have been focusing on human resource development and this is one of the ways we believe we can always bring these experts around to teach our coaches, who in turn teaches our players, so we can all be at the same level. We can see a lot of interest from all the intermediate and experienced coaches and we hope they put all the things they have learnt here into good use. That will show how the teams in the league will play.”

The 4-day power-packed clinic on baseball and softball is actually a blessing to Ghana baseball, who have also benefitted from the Japan- Africa Baseball and Softball Foundation and the Keio University students, who toured of Ghana for the Koshien Baseball championship, after baseballership seminars.
