Transfer: Krystal Palace Stalwart signs for Premier league side Fc Samartex

Akosombo Krystal Palace center back, Desmond Gyabeng has made a permanent move to Ghana Premier league side, Fc Samartex after signing a 3-year deal.

The 21-year-old was officially unveiled by the ‘Timber Giants’ club on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 after he penned down his contract.

The former Rospak Sc defender before his departure, helped the goalkrystal lads to finish 4th on the zone 3 of the Division one league table; their best so far since 2016.

Popularly known as CID, Desmond featured in a total of 29 matches for the Krystal Palace since he joined from Tarkwa based Rospak Sc last year. He played 26 of the division one league matches, totaling 2,273 minutes. He gave an assist in the matchday 21, 2-1 win against Volta Rangers and won 1 Most Valuable Player, against Attram De Visser on matchday 7.

The dependable player also featured in all three matches in the Mtn Fa Cup for the club, with several friendly matches.

CID’s maturity on and off the pitch qualified him to be among the captains and has worn the armband in 10 matches.

Gyabeng, featured in his first match for the Samreboi team in a friendly match against Dreams Fc on Wednesday, which they lost 2-0. He is expected to help the team reach its target for the upcoming 2023/24 season as the club finished 10th with 46 points in their first season in the Ghana Premier league last season.
