AGBL School’s Désirée Duah Secures 1st Runner-Up in Prestigious National Competition

Asante Gold Bibiani Limited Basic School (AGBL SCHOOL), representing the Western North Region, achieved a remarkable feat through its representative, Désirée Amponsah Duah, by securing the 1st Runner-Up position in the prestigious TRIPPLE-S CHALLENGE, organized by World Vision International on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the National Theatre.

Miss Désirée Ohemaa Amponsah Duah is a dedicated learner from Basic Seven, and she showcased incredible knowledge and composure throughout the competition, proving herself to be one of the best young minds in Ghana.

The competition was fierce, as Miss Duah competed against other top contenders from across the country: Emmanuella from the North East Region, Kwabena from the Bono Region, and Altaldius from the Greater Accra Region.

Miss Duah’s performance was nothing short of brilliant. She navigated a series of challenging questions and tasks with grace and precision. The competition was a true display of intellectual prowess, and every participant gave it their all.

A Close Contest

In a nail-biting finale, Miss Désirée Ohemaa Amponsah Duah faced off against Altaldius from the Greater Accra Region. The two competitors were neck and neck, answering questions with remarkable speed and accuracy. In the end, Miss Duah lost the contest marginally to Altaldius, who took the ultimate prize.

Despite the narrow loss, Miss Duah’s achievement is monumental. Securing the 1st Runner-Up position in a national competition of this magnitude is a significant accomplishment that brings immense pride to AGBL School and the entire Western North Region. Her performance has inspired all who witnessed her success and shown that with dedication and passion, students can compete and excel on a national stage.

She received prizes in cash and kind amounting to twenty-two thousand cedis (GHS 22,000), which included a Samsung tablet, a plaque, and a certificate. Asante Gold Bibiani School also received a certificate, a desktop HP computer, and dustbins.

This outstanding achievement is a testament to the hard work and brilliance of the students of Asante Gold Bibiani Limited School.

Miss Duah expressed her gratitude to World Vision International for organizing such a wonderful and impactful event that promotes learning and healthy competition among students.

A Hero’s Welcome Home!

The only way to properly celebrate such a remarkable feat was with a grand homecoming! Upon Miss Duah’s return, the Asante Gold Bibiani Limited School community rolled out the red carpet (or rather, a joyous street procession!) to honour their star. Désirée was welcomed back by the entire school and was then driven in triumph through the principal streets of Bibiani.

The atmosphere was a carnival of sound and joy, led by a vibrant brass band whose music echoed the excitement and pride of the community. It was a well-deserved moment in the spotlight for a student who has put Bibiani on the map!

Reception and Recognition

At the school, Désirée was officially received by key figures whose presence underscored the significance of her achievement: Mr. William Baah Gyansah, the School Administrator, who spoke glowingly of her dedication; Mr. Spanclean Ofori, the respected Parent Association Chairman, representing the proud parents; Mr. Sherrif Kwaku Duah, the PRO for the Municipal Education Directorate, showing the support of the wider educational body; and Mr. Emmanuel Aidoo (Esq), the Community Relations Manager of Asante Gold Bibiani Limited, representing the school’s sponsor and principal community stakeholder.

Their messages were unanimous: Désirée is an inspiration to all learners, demonstrating that with hard work and determination, there are no limits to what a child from Bibiani can achieve.
