Sports Writer’s Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awardee, Rustum Gameli Senorgbe has been handed the volta regional derby between Akatsi All Stars and Kpando Heart of Lions at the Akatsico Park on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
The Access Bank Division One League Zone 3 midweek fixture becomes the class one referee’s 6th division 1 match since he became premier league referee and the 3rd this season.
It is the 10th consecutive time that the Marketer will officiate a match this season, with 2 MTN Fa Cup matches and 5 premier league matches.
Helping Rustum to achieve a good game are assistants Bless Klu and Ernest Akatey, as well as fourth official, Mawuli Klu, who are all division one referees. Francis Donkor is the Match Commissioner for the 3pm kick of tie.
The match Day 13 encounter, will be the third time both teams will be locking horns in the division One league, with a win each. Heart of Lions triumphed at home on match day 15 (February 20, 2022) by 3-0, while Akatsi, who were playing at the WAFA park then, pip Lions by a 1-0 to wrap up last season on June 11, 2022.
Lions lead the Zone 3 table with 26 points and would love to stretch the 4-point gap at the summit, whereas Akatsi All Stars are 8th with 16 points, aiming at closing in at the top in the zone 3 table.
It promises to be an interesting game, with the all volta referees involved in the volta derby. The zeal and commitment to getting matches end successfully is with the hash tag #RusRefair, as Rustum keeps working on achieving the FIFA status to make Ghana proud.
