Ghanaian and Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Teye Party has once again suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, August 1 2021, during a pre-season friendly against Chelsea.
The Ghana international – who is facing another spell in the treatment room – had to be substituted in the first half after sustaining the fresh injury at the Emirates.
Partey appeared to have damaged his ankle following a challenge by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
He got treated by the medics of the Gunners in the 34th minute, before trying to carry on.
But six minutes later he was down again, and his place was subsequently taken by Granit Xhaka.
Midfielder Xhaka levelled for the Gunners after Kai Havertz’s early lead, but the European champions won the duel 2-1 courtesy of Tammy Abraham’s strike.
Speaking after the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did not give a positive answer when asked about the degree of Partey’s injury.
“I just had a talk with the doctor. He’ll have a scan tomorrow. At the moment it’s not looking good,” Arteta said.
Partey is likely to miss Arsenal’s opening match of the 2021/22 season on August 13 against newly-promoted Brentford
Partey battled injuries during his first season at the Emirates after making the switch from Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.
