Record Ghanaian champions, Asante Kotoko have announced the appointment of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as the club’s new head coach.
The 43-year-old replaces Portuguese Mariano Barreto who left after agreeing to terminate his contract.
Narteh Ogum, a Caf License ‘A’ holder, will lead the Kotoko technical bench on an initial two-year contract.
An official announcement via the club’s socials in the wee hours of Sunday, September 19 read:
“We’re delighted to announce Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as our new Head Coach.
The Sports Psychologist, Educationist, and coach joins us on a 2-year deal from WAFA, having previously handled UCC Soccer Team, Elmina Sharks, Dwarfs and Karela Utd.”
The new Kotoko coach’s most recent stint was with Ghana Premier League rivals WAFA SC, a side he managed for a little over 20 months.
Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum guided the Academy Boys to a third-place finish – behind new club Kotoko and champions Hearts of Oak – at the end of the 2020/21 GPL.
He arrives with former Liberty Professionals coach David Ocloo as one of his assistants.
