It was full of pleasure, as the older generation of Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL) pipped the younger generation by a goal to nil in a football match on Saturday, March 5 2022, in celebration of Ghana’s 5th Independence.
The one-day event, organized to help workers keep fit, saw other games like Athletics, Lime and Spoon, as well as Sack race as scoring games; with the likes of Ludo, Oware, Scrabble, Cards and Draught played on non-scoring basis.
The Managers were adjudged overall winners with a total of 70 points after winning both the Football (50 points) and Athletics (20 points). The Supervisors trailed with a total of 30 points, as they also won the Sack race (15 points) and Lime & Spoon (15 points).
The Managers however lifted the beautifully designed coveted trophy at the end of the day, which was presented by the Executive Finance and Administrative Director, Justice Asiedu Boateng.
Factory Manager, Kennedy Asare, who captained the Managers to victory was grateful to all contributors to ensuring a successful event.
“It was very nice exercise, everybody did well in the game but we got an opportunity and scored, but I saw a conspiracy for me not to score. All the games have gone well and we thank the medical team also for taking care of us. The commentator for the day was also good, because he made it fun with funny comments. This (Fun Games) has come to stay; I even believe that we will add more games to it.”
Design Studio Supervisor, Isaac obeng led the Supervisors and although enjoyed the games, could only wish his side better luck next time.
“It was a nice game, we all played well but no matter what, one team, will win. The managers have done well by winning. They have proved us wrong. I want to congratulate all my players because they have done well. I will wish ourselves better luck next time.”
Amidst dancing, arm pressing and other exciting activities, the company wishes to annually organize the fun games.
