Striker Samuel Awatsonya registered his first goal for Bofoakwa Tano in their Matchday 18 encounter against Techiman Liberty FC at the Techiman Ameyaw Park on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in the Division One Zone 1B league.
Awatsonya, who joined the former Premier League side on loan from Berekum Chelsea in the second round of the 2024/25 season, pulled one back for Bofoakwa in the 57th minute. He expertly tapped in a cross from the wings, giving his team hope of an equalizer, but they ultimately fell to a 2-1 defeat.
The goal marks Awatsonya’s first for Bofoakwa Tano in four appearances, having played a full 90 minutes for only the second time since his arrival.
The former Kings Palace talisman left Akosombo to sign a three-year deal with Berekum Chelsea for the current season. He previously enjoyed prolific campaigns with Kings Palace, scoring 10 goals in the 2022/23 season and following up with nine goals and six assists in 2023/24.
His loan move to Bofoakwa Tano reunites him with former Kings Palace head coach Kofi Ntow Gyan, who led the Akwamu-based side to a fourth-place finish in the 2022/23 season.
Bofoakwa Tano will need more goals and victories to climb the Zone 1B table, as they currently sit in seventh place with 18 points. Their next challenge sees them travel to the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park to face Dormaa Unity FC on Matchday 19.
