The National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheik Osmanu Nunu Sharubutu, has donated GHS 50,000 towards the construction of the National Cathedral.

The Chief Imam made the announcement when the chairman and members of the board of trustees of the National Cathedral paid a courtesy call on him to congratulate him on the successful completion of the National mosque today, Thursday, August 26, 2021.

Plans for the construction of the National Cathedral has been under severe scrutiny following the government’s $100m seed money pumped into the project as well as the lands.

But the government insists the project will be funded by the private sector.

He was speaking at the Adabraka Official Town branch of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Sunday, August 22, 2021.

“As you all know, there are efforts to build a National Cathedral. We must build the Cathedral. It is a voluntary exercise; anybody who wants to contribute can contribute. I have contributed, and I will contribute some more I encourage everybody to think about it and let’s build it. It is not for anybody. It is for Ghana and for the glory of God,” he said.
