CRCIKET: GT and DPS Share Prizes as Gujarat Ladies win Fly Dreams Travels Women Gold Coast Championship

Organised by Defenders Cricket Club, Season 2 of the Fly Dreams Travels Gold Coast Championship ended in a mix of joy and shared honours at the Accra Academy Astro Turf on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

The highly anticipated men’s final between Gujarat Tridents and DPS Plastic Tamil Pasanga was unfortunately cut short by persistent rain, leading both teams to agree to split the prizes. DPS had posted 40/5 in 4.5 overs before the rain set in, making it impossible to determine a winner.

🏏 Quarterfinal Thrillers

The tournament’s knockout stage featured thrilling action, with Platinum Sponsors Heatz and Jaimai Communications boosting morale for the competing teams.

JK Cricket Club stunned Royal Stars Tema by 5 wickets, chasing down 34/6 with a score of 37/4 in 4.3 overs.

Gujarat Tridents stormed into the semifinals with a commanding 7-wicket win over Panjab Warriors, chasing 22/7 in just 3.5 overs with tight bowling from Aqeel Israr Syed, Waqas Lefty, Syed Abdul Muqeet, Syed Anees Hashmi, and Ayushman Mishra.

DPS Tamil Pasanga, powered by Indian Salt n’ Pepper Restaurant (food sponsors), defeated Champions United by 8 wickets. Champions posted 33/8, but DPS chased it down with 36/2 in 3 overs.

Accra Titans Cricket Club lived up to the expectations of Gold Sponsors JK Paper, Dunamis Shipping & Logistics, Amic Medicare, and Indobev Global Ltd. The Titans edged Lele Challengers by 3 wickets, winning with a last-ball six by Kapil Jangir Kaka to finish on 34/7, chasing 28.

🥉 Semis & Third Place Playoff

In the first semifinal, Gujarat Tridents dominated JK Cricket Club, scoring 66/3 and restricting JK to 43/5 to win by 23 runs. Star man Shahzaib Ullah smashed 37 runs off 17 balls, including five massive sixes.

DPS Tamil Pasanga secured their place in the final with an 8-wicket win over Accra Titans, who dropped key catches and paid the price. DPS scored 55/2 in 4.1 overs, chasing Titans’ 53/5.

JK Cricket Club took third place with a strong chase, overcoming Titans’ 59/5 by reaching 61/4 in 4.4 overs to win by 6 wickets.

🏆 Women’s Final – Gujarat Tridents Ladies Reign

In the women’s final, Gujarat Tridents Ladies defeated Gima Warriors by 16 runs to claim the title. GT Ladies scored 61/1, with Komal Grewal frequently finding the boundary. Gima, led by captain Swatika, gave their all but managed only 45/1.

In the third-place match, MMG Virangana outclassed Fighters, winning by 23 runs. MMG posted 60/1, while Fighters were restricted to 37/3.

Despite the rainfall, the championship delivered memorable moments. An awards ceremony will be held at a later date to honour the Man of the Series and other outstanding performers.

Season 3 promises to be even bigger and better.
