Balagi Group of Companies (BGC), one of the oldest existing Cricket Clubs in Ghana, made light work on Bangla Tigers on Oval B in the ongoing GCA T20 League Qualifier A.
Having beaten Supreme in week 2 and lost to Evolve Paint in week 3, BGC recorded their second straight win and climb to the top of the table with 6 points and +2.2 NRR.
Bangla Tigers wanted to chase, as they won toss and elected to field first. BGC put on the scoreboard 163/6 with 30 extras, while Vinay Sharma Mtn and Kawcar took 2 wickets each.
Opener Kapil Jangir started well, getting a boundary 4 on the 0.2 over to set the tone, as partner Joseph Kwame Theodore 33(22) responded on the 0.4 over. Kapil left the crease in the second over, as he was bowled by Vinay. Theodore kept the boundaries, until his second partnership with Devender Singh 36(36) ended on the 6.3 over.
Steadily, BGC achieved a score, they can well defend.
It was a tough mountain to climb for the tigers’ whose claws were prevented from reaching as far as their bats will reach them. A wicket on the 0.2 and another on the 0.4 over from the magical deliveries of Hassan Shah Ali on Asif Kabir and Mohammed Kazal, shook the foundation of Bangla Tigers.
They however found their rhythm and cheers erupted from the stands, as Vinay Sharma got their first boundary 4, from Sanjay Nayal’s delivery on the 1.3 over. Hassan Ali Shah (4.0-0-25-3), who has climbed to the top bowling chat with 11 wickets, dismissed Vinay on the 2.2 over, to grab his 3rd wicket for the day.
Bangla Tigers tried to score boundaries in every over, but could not avoid the fall of wickets, managing a total of 116/10 on 19.3 overs.
Gaurav Sharda, stood out in BGC’s 47 runs victory with figures 4.0-0-21-4 and also moved to 2nd on the bowling chat with a total of 9 wickets from 4 innings.
The results left Bangla Tigers 6th with 2 points, after winning 1 out of their 4 matches played.
Later on, that same Sunday, January 26, 2025, Bangla Tigers Cricket Club will push for a second win, as they come face-to-face with 4th place Carel Super Kings.
In the week 8 fixtures, Ras Binghi will bounce back after 3 weeks absence to host Rana Motors. The bottom side will seek for their first win out of 3 outings.
