Bharani Kumar came on as the 6th batter on the 9.3 over, to partner Halim and together produced 30 runs before Halim was sacrificed by SiGL Anand Bhudiya on the 14.1 over.

He got his brace boundary 4 from the delivery of Sahil Jamwal on the 16.5 and 16.6 overs, after Michael Aboagye and Isaac Aboagye had also fallen.  Sahil donated 2 more of the boundaries to Bharani to boost his sides chances of putting that good score on the board.

Swami Indians knew they had to push for glory to achieve a target of 159, protecting fall of wickets, but Bharani dismissed 2, Sahil Jamwal and Navin Rabadiya and name on the 12.2 over and the 14.2 over; wrapping up with these figures 4.0-0-18-2.  Judah S’ 2.0-0-13-2 added to the restriction of Swami, as they could only manage 103/9.

Still on Sunday, January 12, GT Cricket Club’s emphatic win over Hurricanes, took them 3rd on the table with 4 points and +2.3 NRR, a bit higher than that of Alpha, with +2.0 NRR.  Swami Indians, having recorded their 3rd straight defeat lie bottom with -3.8 NRR, with Hurricanes sitting 6th with 2 points.

Hurricanes pushed so well, opening their arms for boundaries and stretching their bats to secure 2’s but GT CC had other plans to get their restrictions.

Viprendra Partap’s 32(27) was just not enough to get Hurricanes across a century, as he was dismissed by Samson Kwasi’s delivery on the 16.1 over. He spent the most time in the crease and obviously the highest scorer with 17 extras, giving Hurricanes 96/9.

James Kwaku Vifah also recorded 4.0-0-20-2 and was adjudged Player of the Match, while Arumugam Venkatesh (4.0-0-16-2) and Sam Michael Merbin (4.0-1-14-2) added to the limitations of Hurricanes.

It is a 6, 6, 4, 4, 2, 2 and 0, 0 points on the Qualifier B table, with Salt n Pepper and Devnik leading the charge; and it looks like no Club is standing alone.

The Ghana Cricket Association intends to intensify the league, with this new system, while encouraging the participation of more Clubs and spreading of the gentleman’s game.

Next Sunday will see Alpha vs GT CC, with MMG facing Swami Indians.
