The Ghana Cricket Association Division One League bounced back with wonderful display at the Achimota twin Oval on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Qualifier A, saw Adesh Kumar stand out in Carel Super Kings’ 21 runs triumph over Rana Motors. Adesh, recorded 4.0-0-15-4, as Carel Super Kings (CSK) limited Rana Motors to 104/10 in 18.4 overs in the second innings.
CSK, who opted to bat first after wining the toss had put on the scoreboard, a chaseable score of 125/9, while Shajahan Razak enjoyed with his wonderful deliveries, taking 4 wickets and giving away 17 runs.
Adesh, allowed the power play to go before coming with his magical right arm medium in the 8th over. He got his first wicket (Subhasis Ray) via LBW on the 7.5 and returned to dismiss wonder boy Richmond Baaleri 27(25) with a clean bowled on the 9.2 over.
While Rana needed answers, having scored 69/3 in 10 overs, Adesh returned again and from the same over the wicket, sacked Sachin Pandey, with the bails flying on the 11.5 over. Adesh Kumar who rotated with captain Selvaraj, wrapped up with a wicket each in an over, dismissing Seenivasan Sankara on the 13.5 over.
While Selvaraj finally got his wicket, a wonderful catch by Joseph Aboagye at short point on Alex Osei on the 14.5 over, Carlson Stanley (2.4-0-19-2) wrapped things up for Rana Motors, as Sangamesh caught out Prince Adotei on the 18.4 over at Extra Cover. CSK, thus ended the unbeaten run of Rana Motors.
Defenders earlier in the morning looked for answers against Evolve Paint, but found none, as the paint from Evolve had a primer, a first coat and second coat from the deliveries of Navalekar Anil, who emerged player of the match.
Navalekar took 4.0-0-18-3 in the first innings, while Defenders struggled to maintain partnership. Daniel Anefi 38*(37) tried to use scrapper but realized it doesn’t work on fresh paint as Defenders eventually managing 91/8. Evolve, sacrificed 5 wickets in 16.1 overs to achieve 93 runs and win by 5 wickets.
Sanjay Pokhriyal 23(37) and Bernard Kotey 21*(25) contributed to Evolve Paints’ triumph, as they climb to 3rd with 4 points and +0.3 NRR, shifting Defenders to 5th, also with 4 points.
CSK also climb to 4th, also with 4 points, whereas Rana Motors maintain their top spot with 6 points and +1.7 NRR after 4 matches.
Qualifier A is still opened, as all Clubs have tasted defeat, with just Net Run Rates, separating 4 teams.
