Cricket Fever Hits Kumasi: Ten Teams Set for Epic Battle at 2025 Bash!

The Indians in Ghana Community has put together an exciting modified cricket tournament, dubbed the Kumasi Cricket Bash 2025, which is set to take place on Sunday and Monday, March 30 & 31, 2025.

With a grand opening ceremony scheduled for Sunday at the Hill Top School Astro Turf, cricket lovers will come together to celebrate the gentleman’s game, uniting in the spirit of sportsmanship and competition.

The tournament promises high-intensity cricket action, with teams ready to display their batting, bowling, and fielding mastery.

Among the competing teams are Fighter Squad, Jai Ambe 11, Knight Rider, Mosaam Masters, and Mumbai Smashers, who will be eager to showcase a variety of strokes.

On the other hand, teams like Punjab Lions, Rajasthan Tigers, Tamil Pasanga, Telugu Warriors, and Trimax Titans will bring their bowling and fielding expertise to the fore.

Behind this thrilling competition is Shankar Saur, the lead organizer, with solid support from Prem, Kundan, and Ravi.

The tournament is set to bring two days of electrifying cricket, featuring 9-player teams, where only 8 players will take the field per match in a 5-over format. Bowlers will be limited to 2 overs per match, ensuring a fast-paced and competitive atmosphere.

The stakes are high, with a total prize pool of GH₵20,000 up for grabs. The winning team will take home GH₵10,000, a trophy, and gold medals, while the runner-up will receive GH₵6,000, a trophy, and silver medals.

The third-place finishers won’t be left out, earning GH₵4,000, a trophy, and bronze medals for their efforts.

With Voltex as the Prime Sponsor and Duron Paints as the Premium Sponsor, the tournament will introduce modified rules to keep things interesting. Runs will be awarded from No Balls, but LBW dismissals will not be in play.

The competition will be played in a single round-robin format, with two groups of five teams each battling for semi-final spots.

In Group A, Fighter Squad will go head-to-head with Rajasthan Tigers, Mumbai Smashers, Jai Ambe 11, and Tamil Pasanga. Meanwhile, Group B will see Punjab Lions, Knight Riders, Telugu Warriors, Trimax Titans, and Mosaam Masters fighting for a place in the knockout stage.

Beyond the team glory, individual brilliance will be recognized with awards for Man of the Match (for each game), Best Bowler, Best Batter, Best Fielder, and the overall Man of the Tournament.

Adding prestige to the event, esteemed guests including Mr. Arun Kalwani, Mr. Avinash Lakhani, Mr. Sunil Patel, Mr. Manish Mahbubani, Mr. Dilip Soni, Mr. Harry Singh, and Mr. Athivarahan will be in attendance to celebrate this exciting cricket festival.

Expect an exciting curtain raiser match during the opening ceremony between U-15 lads. These kids have always yearned to also showcase their tenacity in the game and would be a delight to watch them.
