The long awaited Asuogyaman U-19 Boys T20 Community league begun with Zone 2 on Saturday, May 21, 2022 where Frankadua Century Batters to the amazement of all pulled a surprise 14 runs win over Anum Super sixers.
The semi-hardball introduction saw the players producing great bowling skills in both matches played at the Asikuma Presby School Park.
The Super sixers, after winning toss elected to field first, paving way for Century Batters to score 44 runs, for 10 wickets in 9 overs.
It was Michael Boafo who got a golden duck, as Bright Osei couldn’t block the pacy ball. Boafo became the hero of the first innings, after he took 3 wickets, gave away 10 runs in 2 overs, while Samuel Agbeve took 2 wickets, gave away 2 runs in 1 over.
The Century Batters went into the fielding with a strategy which worked perfectly for them. Ismael Akpabli dismissed Philip Odei after with his second ball and their morale charged.
Then came Issah Sani who took 2 wickets in his first over. The Super sixers undoubtedly lost control as the Century Batters took all out for 30 runs in 6.2 overs.
Issah Sani then emerged the Man of the Match with 5 wickets, giving away 5 runs in 3 overs with a wicket maiden over. He also scored 17 runs, off 22 balls, Not Out, in 50 minutes
Terrific Hitters in the other game became scared a bit when debutants Asikuma Kings picked up in the second innings, with great bowling skills but they triumphed with determination.
Terrific Hitters scored 51 runs, for 6 wickets in 7 overs and won by 4 wickets as they lost 6 wickets in 3 overs.
Terrific Hitters won toss but fielded, so Asikuma Kings scored 48 runs, all out in 14.5 overs. Godsway Fiave and Godwin Datsomor exhibited great composure but couldn’t stand the grips and accuracy of Enoch Darko of Terrific Hitters.
Enoch Darko emerged Man of the match as he took 4 wickets, gave away 3 runs in 2 overs, with a wicket maiden over. Team mate Isaac Darko also got a wicket maiden over.
The league continues on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the same venue with more intriguing displays.
