CRICKET: Ghana bounced back to winning ways in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers

After suffering three straight loses at the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier B, Ghana’s senior national team went all out to beat Cameroon by 107 runs on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at IPRC Oval in Kigali.

Cameroon had to chase a 183/3 score from Ghana, after they won toss and chose to field.

A quick fall of wickets (James Vifah, Obed Harvey, and Devender Singh) was restored by a great partnership between Samson Kwasi Awe Awiah and Rexford Bakum which produced 143 runs.

Vice Captain Samson Awiah, who was the return batter from the beginning of the innings, scored a near century, a remarkable *96(69) while Rexford Bakum from the 4.3 over, scored *66(39).

Samson, with a strike rate of 139.13 reached the boundary 12 times, 9 fours and 3 sixes and was named the Player of the Match.

Rexford, scored 2 fours and 5 sixes, with a strike rate of 169.23.

Cameroon weren’t bad when they took over the crease with Nseke Tuobe Bruno 38(28) and Tchakuo Idriss 13(17).

They scored approximately 9 runs per over till Kofi Bagabena’s delivery on the 6.1 over which got out Nseke opened the fall of wickets.

Cameroon managed 76/10 in 13. 2 overs, as Ghana won by 107 runs.

Bagabena finished his overs and took 4.0-0-16-4 while captain Obed Harvey also took 4.0-1-14-3.

Obed Harvey still had few words, as they have 2 more matches to play.

The win becomes Ghana’s second, as they beat Eswatini in their first match on Thursday, December 1, 2022

Ghana, still 5th on the table with 4 points will playing their 6th match against Gambia on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Gahanga Cricket Stadium at 9:30am (7:30am GH Time).
