There are always matches to thrill fans at the Achimota Cricket Twin Ovals, in the ongoing Ghana Cricket Association T20 league.
This Sunday, January 26, was not left out, with the excitement in the Qualifier A.
Rana Motors CC made light work on whipping side, Ras Binghi with a 67 runs win after a 148/7 ans 81/10 in 16.5 overs results.
Rana Motors took to the first innings and delivered effortlessly, with Paul Ayoleyine 30(20), wrapping things up well with Jeremiah Mensah 15(16). Rana struggled to maintain a partnership, while Ras Bhingi enjoyed the fall of wickets, with Nurudeen Ibrahim (4.0-0-17-2) and Bright Addison (4.0-0-25-2) making a case for themselves.
Wonder boy, Richmond Baaleri fell on the 8.2over, securing just 9(10) and was ousted via a run out. He however managed to secure his 3rd Player of the match accolade with 4.0-1-15-4. His exploits in the bowling figures included a brace, on Nurudeen Ibrahim and Richard Owusu on the 9.2 over via a Caught by Gaurav Pandey and on the 9.3 over via stumped.
Ras Bhingi we given a bitter and slippery ball to bat by Rana Motors, but Ernest Arthur 36(34)was patient enough to keep his wicket, spending 61 minutes, being a victim of Baaleri’s deliveries via LBW and scoring the highest in the entire match.
Ernest, having come on as the 3rd batter, partnered 6 other batters secured 46 runs for Ras Bhingi before he fell on the 13.3 over.
The Saltpond based team remain bottom with no point after 4 matches, while Rana Motors sit top with 8 points.
Carel Super Kings (CSK) also maintained their 4th spot with 6 points, after a 4 wickets victory over Bangla Tigers in the afternoon match on Oval A.
Bangla gave CSK a scare in the second innings, after the former had scored 78/10 in 18 overs. 79 runs, was to be easy to chase for the team that handed unstoppable Ran Motors their first defeat. But Bangla had other options to restrict them.
Sheikh Ali Rabby took 5 wickets, gave away 27 runs in 4 overs in the second innings, as CSK became careful while approaching the 10th, over before Joseph Adotei 289*(18) wrapped things up with a double boundary 4.
Sheikh had dismissed 4 batters, just within the 6th over, while CSK stood at 39/5 and needed 40 to win. It took CSK another 4 overs to win by 4 wickets, after scoring 81/6 in 10.3 overs.
Captain of CSK, Selveraj Chokalingam was adjudged the Player of the match with his bowling figures 4.0-1-3-3.
Bangla Tiger, lives to fight another day and currently lie 6th with 2 points.
