Former Kings Palace forward Dauda Rakibu marked his return to the Akotex Park with a goal as Division One debutants Port City FC secured a 2-1 victory over Kings Palace FC on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Rakibu, who left Kings Palace during the January transfer window, had previously scored four goals for them, including a hat trick. His latest strike, in the 20th minute, doubled Port City’s lead after Roland Maaquaye had opened the scoring in the 6th minute.

The 20-year-old capitalized on a defensive error by Kings Palace to cushion his side’s advantage in this Matchday 18 encounter.

This goal marked Rakibu’s second for Port City, following his winner against Home Stars FC in Ho on February 2, 2025—a match that was rained off and completed the next day. Interestingly, both of his goals for Port City have come on the 2nd day of consecutive months, both in away victories.

Already making an impact with his new club, Rakibu has two goals, one assist, and one MVP award in four matches. The former Right to Dream and Kings Palace goal poacher is eager to help Port City climb to the top of Division One Zone 3.

Port City currently sits second in the league with 37 points, just four behind leaders Hohoe United. Meanwhile, Kings Palace is hovering just above the relegation zone in 13th place with 16 points.

Port City will host Koforidua-based Semper FI FC at the Kukurantumi Ohene Park on Sunday, March 9, 2025, for their Matchday 19 clash. Wearing his #38 jersey, Rakibu will be aiming to find the net again and push his team closer to the summit.
