Life at Division One side Port City FC keeps getting better for forward Dawda Rakibu, who scored his first home goal in their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kotoku Royals FC on Sunday. The crucial win keeps Port City in the chase for promotion.

Rakibu struck in the 42nd minute after a well-worked exchange in the penalty area, registering his third goal for the Division One debutants in their Matchday 21 encounter against their regional rivals.

His goal proved decisive as Port City held onto their lead, securing back-to-back wins following their 1-0 triumph over FC Nania on Matchday 20.

The victory at Kukurantumi Park on March 23 ensures Port City remain four points behind league leaders Hohoe United (48 points) with 44 points.

The 20-year-old attacker has now netted twice in March and once in February. His first goal for Port City came on February 2, when he scored the winner against Home Stars in Ho, a performance that earned him the MVP award. He followed up with another strike on March 2, securing the second goal in a 2-1 win over his former club, Kings Palace FC, at Akosombo.

Before his move from Kings Palace, Rakibu had already found the net four times, including a hat trick for the Akwamu-based side. His current tally stands at seven goals this season—three for Port City—alongside one assist and an MVP award.

The former Northern City and Right to Dream Academy prospect is thriving at Port City FC, and with nine league matches remaining, fans will be expecting more goals from the in-form forward.
