Akosombo Kings Palace forward Desmond Awuah wrapped up the first round of the Access Bank Division One League in impressive fashion, finishing with six goals to his name.

Awuah placed joint third on the Zone 3 goal-scoring chart, trailing only Faruk Mohammed of Hohoe United (8 goals) and Dickson Afoakwa of Rainmasters (7 goals). His vital goals played a crucial role in lifting Kings Palace out of the relegation zone, with his latest strike securing a 1-0 victory over Inter Allies on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Match-Winning Contribution

Coming on as a substitute in the 55th minute of the matchday 15 fixture, Awuah wasted no time in making an impact. Just six minutes later, he controlled a long searching ball inside the penalty area, skillfully beat his marker, and calmly slotted the ball into the net. His decisive goal ensured that Kings Palace climbed to 12th place on the league table with 15 points.

Awuah’s Goal Timeline

Awuah opened his goal account for Kings Palace on matchday 2, scoring in their emphatic 4-1 victory against Akatsi All Stars on October 5, 2024, at the Akotex Park.

His second goal, another match-winner, came on matchday 6 against Na God, where his 35th-minute strike secured a 2-1 victory at home on November 10, 2024. His goal proved to be the difference after Nikoi had equalized Fegesen’s early sixth-minute goal.

A week later, on December 29, Awuah salvaged a crucial point for his team against Golden Kick, scoring a dramatic equalizer in the 97th minute. The visitors had taken the lead in the 44th minute, but Awuah’s late heroics ensured a 1-1 draw on matchday 11.

In a highly anticipated clash on matchday 14, Awuah netted his first away goal against his former club, Kotoku Royals, on January 26, 2025. His 22nd-minute strike gave Kings Palace an early lead at Oda, but the joy was short-lived as Amekpewu equalized in the 38th minute.

Nicknamed ‘Pages,’ Awuah has been a key figure for Kings Palace, accumulating 663 minutes of play across 12 matches. His performances have earned him two Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards—first against Na God and most recently against Inter Allies.
