Desmond Awuah’s late strike salvaged a point for Struggling Kings Palace at home against Golden Kick

Desmond Awuah’s 90+6’ header earned Akosombo Kings Palace Fc, a share of the spoils in their match day 11 encounter against Golden Kick Fc on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

The red and blues kept their lead until additional time when a long-lofted ball from 80’ sub, Emmanuel Laryea Okoe in search for an equalizer, found Awuah beat the off-side trap and headed it home to get the home fans on their feet.

It looked like the pride of Akwamu lads were headed for another home defeat, as they fall within the relegation zone, but the resilience and determination of Awuah, also known as ‘Pages’ gave his side a great sigh of relief.

Having played the entire 90+6 minutes in the game, Desmond has not played a total of 458 minutes from 8 matches, scored 4 goals and won Most Valuable Player.

The former Kotoku Royals winger is poised to help his former side, Kings Palace secure a comfortable position at the end of the 2024/25 season, as the team struggled last season.

Kings Palace will next face Koforidua Semper FI in the Eastern Regional derby at Koforidua but still find themselves 14th on the table with 8 points, 3 more than Kotoku Royals at 15th spot and 4 more than bottom side Inter Allies.

Kings Palace, out of the 11 matches have won 2 at home, lost 3 at home, drew 1 at home, drew 1 away, and lost 4 away. Yet to win their last 4 matches, Kings Palace has lost to Okwawu Utd, to Home Stars and also to Hohoe Utd at home this season.
