Part 10: Faithfulness

Text: Matt 25:21
His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master” (ESV).

One of the things that come with the promise of God is faithfulness. To be faithful is “having or showing true and constant support or loyalty; deserving trust: keeping your promises or doing what you are supposed to do.” The Word of God promises the crown of life to all those who will be faithful to the end.

“Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Rev 2:10). If faithfulness on earth will attract the crown of life from God, then it tells you how important it is. Faithfulness is an everlasting riches to all those who will remain faithful to the Lord. Every child of God is supposed to be a child of faithfulness. Not living a life of faithfulness to the Lord is a disgrace to the Lord and its consequences are grave.

Going through the Bible, it is very clear that all those who walked faithfully with the Lord never had it on the silver platter. They had to be disgraced, humiliated, ridiculed, etc. Frankly speaking, faithful has no beauty and admiration from the perspective of those who do not know the Lord. Faithfulness to God has a lot of enemies.

But from the perspective of God, faithfulness is of great value. When Paul wrote his second letter to Timothy, he was in prison awaiting his execution. But he was at peace because he knew of his faithfulness to God. So he wrote, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim 4:7). May we have this same confidence at the end of our race as we live a life of faithfulness.

Prayer:
Faithful God, please empower me to be faithful to You in all my ways and works. Thank You Lord Jesus for answering my prayers. In Jesus Name I pray, amen.
