DIV ONE: Akosombo Krystal Palace secures first away victory against Susubiribi Sc

Akosombo Krystal Palace Academy recorded their first away victory this season against Susubiribi Sc at the Old Tafo Rovers Park on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

The matchday 17 tie in zone 3 of the 2021/2022 national division 1 league, saw the Pride of Akwamu lads, going home with the 3 maximum points courtesy a 1-0 score line over their nemesis.

An intense first half, saw Krystal getting the better of the home side in the first 5 minutes, until it became midfield tussle and an end-to-end stuff.

Defender Jacob Kwasi got a knock in the first 5 minutes while Patrick Alder Attanunu got booked as the home side pile pressure to break the deadlock.

Immediately Paul Yanney’s header from free-kick went wide, the home side’s only brilliant chance came in the 13′ with a nice build up but shot went way off target. Krystal got set pieces including 6 corners in the entire game but couldn’t utilize.

Goalkeeper Michael Appiah was called into action in the 31′ as he kept his composure and collected a dangerous freekick, although he wasn’t on holiday.

In the 36′, Amos Tetteh found a loosed ball and latched onto it but it was always rising. His partner, Richard Tetteh was all over the field, making his debut a memorable one for Krystal.

4 minutes later, there was a hard tackle on Kabiru Mohammed who was instrumental in the midfield. It looked dangerous but he stood his grounds and played the entire game.

Back from recess, Bismark Asante got his first chance but shot was too close to squeeze as ball went for goal kick on the 50′.

10 minutes later, Captain Esmond Nanor, then made way for Kennedy Tu-Leo whose speed created more space for Krystal.

Bismark silenced the noisy home fans after connecting a flick from Paul Yanney in the 63′.

Mysteriously, Bismark had picked a palm front put on the line of the goal and thrown over the inner perimeter before the goal came.

With a freekick against Sususbiribi, their goalkeeper is properly placing the palm front piece on the goal line

Bismark, on 3 goals now got 2 more chances to cushion the away lead but the 71′ lacked direction while the 73′ was saved.

With 12 minutes to play, Tanko Mohammed, Courage Gbeve and Bernard Smith Holdbrook came on for Bismark, Patrick Alder Attanunu and Kwabena Nyenduro respectively to contribute their quota to ensuring the revenge is complete.

Amos Tetteh and Paul Yanney would’ve sealed the victory with a rebound and header in the 80′ and 85′ respectively. The home side pushed more men forward in the dying minutes and won freekicks but Jacob Kwasi and Amos Tetteh dealt with them.

The cross bar also denied a fantastic freekick from the foot of Maxwell Yeboah Segoe, who had a decent game on the 88′.

The winning Team

Defender Jacob Kwasi was adjudged Player of the Match. This becomes his second, after winning it on match day 15, the 0-0 stalemate against Accra City Stars.

Krystal, having successfully taken their revenge on Susubiribi sc have climbed up again to 11th with 19 points, same as Akatsi All Stars and Kwaebibirem.
