Elmina Sharks marksman, Benjamin Bernard Boateng has departed Ghana for Egypt to seal a move to Al Ittihad Alexandria Club.
The 20-year-old left Accra Wednesday night. He is expected to complete his personal terms with the club likely to be a long-term contract as well as undergo mandatory medical at the Alexandria-based Egyptian Premier League side.
Sharks – who survived the Ghana Premier League by snatching a crucial win against Asante Kotoko on the final day of the 2020/21 season – have already concluded negotiations with Al Ittihad.
It is rumoured the Nduom Sports Complex outfit could earn an amount in the region of $100,000 as a transfer fee from the ‘Masters of the City’.
Boateng played a vital role in the season for Sharks, scoring 8 goals in 25 league appearances and bagging four man-of-the-match awards.
In the previous season, he registered 7 goals in 14 league games before the campaign got abolished due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Al Ittihad Alexandria currently place 5th in the 18-club 2020/21 Egyptian Premier League standings with 41 points from 28 matches.
