The sound of leather on willow may be missing, but the passion is louder than ever as Fly Dreams Travels ushers in Season 2 of the Gold Coast Championship — a high-energy semi-hard tennis ball cricket tournament — set to light up the Accra Academy Park on Thursday, May 1, Sunday, May 11, and Sunday, May 18, 2025.
This isn’t just a tournament but a celebration of talent, teamwork, and tenacity. With MC and Heatz as platinum sponsors and the ever-delicious Salt n’ Pepper as food partner, this edition promises thrilling matches, loud cheers, and unforgettable moments.
The women’s division is a show of elegance and power, with four strong teams stepping up not just for Trophy, gold, silver medals and vouchers, but to play for pride, progress, and presence in a sport that needs their shine.
Meanwhile, the men’s battle zone is brimming with intensity. Sixteen competitive clubs will fight for glory, grouped into four and engaging in round-robin duels. Only the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockouts, leading to a pulsating semifinal, third-place playoff, and the ultimate final.
- The champions of the men’s tournament will take home a cash prize of 10,000 Ghana cedis, a shining trophy, and gold medals plus bragging rights
- The runners-up will earn 5,000 Ghana cedis, a trophy, and silver medals.
- The third-placed team will also walk away with 2,000 Ghana cedis, trophy and bronze medals.
Gold sponsors like Indobey Global Ltd, Dunamis Shipping and Logistics, Amic Medicare Diagnostic Center, B5 Plus Group, and JK (Everything to Anything Paper) have thrown their weight behind this cricket spectacle.
There’s more! With backing from co-sponsors like Park Shop, Verna Mineral Water, Desi Mart, Trendz Unisex Salon, Saal, Daily Food, Wasabi, and Boss Baker, fans are in for a three-day feast of sport and celebration.
Last year’s winners, Devnik United, will return to defend their crown. But this year, the competition looks fiercer, the stakes are higher, and every run will count.
And thanks to the organizing club, Defenders, all participating teams and fans will enjoy free health screening — a powerful reminder that cricket is not just about competition, but also about care and community.
So clear your calendars and charge your energy — because this is more than cricket. It’s passion in motion, pride on display, and dreams at stake.
