The Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Professor Amin Alhassan has revealed that the outfit will soon set up FM stations in the newly created Regions.
Professor Amin Alhassan, said this in Bolgatanga during GBC’s 86th Anniversary celebration.
The Director-General appealed to the staff of the state-owned company to give off their best in the discharge of their duties and eschew negative attitudes that impede the progress of the Corporation.
He noted that this decision to expand its tentacles to the 6 newly created regions calls for more logistical and financial support for GBC to perform its duties effectively.
In 2018, a referendum was held in areas that had to be split to form the proposed new regions.
The referendum was successfully held with majority of voters voting in favour of the proposed regions.
The new regions created as a result of the referendum were Bono East, North East, Ahafo region, Western North, Savannah and Oti.
The original ten regions were the Bono Ahafo, Central, Western, Eastern, Volta, Ashanti, Upper East, Upper West, Greater Accra and Northern regions.
