GES meet Teacher Unions today

The hierarchy of the Ghana Education Service will be meeting with the representatives of the various teacher unions to discuss issues raised by the unions in their August 10, 2021 press release.

The Unions include the Ghana National Association of Teachers(GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers(NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers -Ghana (CCT-GH).

In a letter dated August 19, 2021, signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Assurance, Anthony Boateng for the Director-General saw the Ghana Education Service invite the leadership of the above-mentioned unions in a meeting on Friday, August 20, 2021at 8:00 am at the headquarters of the GES in Accra.

Purpose

The meeting is expected to deliberate on your Press statement dated 10 August 2021 and other related issues.

Background

The Pre-tertiary Teacher Unions threatened to embark on industrial action next month if the Ghana Education Service fail to address their grievances with regards to favourable working conditions.

The Unions, the Ghana National Association of Teachers(GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers(NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers -Ghana (CCT-GH) jointly announced with a statement on August 10, 2021.

In their notice, they indicated that if by the close of September 2021, all their requests have not been met or resolved by the employer, they will advise themselves in the interest of their members within the framework of their Collective Agreement and the applicable law of Ghana.
