Ghana 1-0 Madagascar: Inaki Williams ends Goal draught in 2026 World Cup Qualifier at Kumasi

After making 11 barren appearances, Inaki Williams Finally scored his first goal for the Senior national team as the Black Stars secured a narrow win against Madagascar in their opening game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Madagascar took control of the game in the first half which ended goalless.

The Black Stars of Ghana then found their foot in the second half, dominating and pushing to appease the fans at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Inaki, whose goal draught for the Black Stars has been a worry for the entire team, became the hero, scoring late in added on time and sealing a 1-0 win for Ghana with a close-range header.

“I’m very happy to score my first goal. It’s special. Kumasi people are lovely and I thank them very well.”

“This goal is very dear to me because my family was in the stadium,” the Athletic Bilbao striker added.

The Black Stars will now travel to Moroni to play against Comoros on Tuesday 21st November 2023.

Another 3 points or Ghana will put them on top of group I and set the tone for qualification to Canada/Mexico and USA 2026.
