Ghana Cricket gets another ICC Tutor Coach after a successful course at Botswana

The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) is pleased to have one of their level one coaches, Victor Yao Tetteh, participate in a 3-day ICC Coach Tutor Course at Gaborone, Botswana from Sunday to Tuesday, September 10 to 12, 2023.

Hosted by the Botswana Cricket Association and organized by the ICC, the course saw 15 participants across the African continent acquiring the required knowledge to be facilitators to guide coaches in their respective countries.

With Justine Ligyalingi (ICC) and two Educators from South Africa, Chris Cardoso and Jolene Campher, the 15 participants, now Tutor Coaches are to make coaching cricket fun and enjoyable for all kids and also to attract more kids to play cricket. Other responsibilities of the Coach Tutors are to encourage coaches to upgrade themselves by offering ICC courses online whiles they give accreditation to those coaches after passing practical assessment.

Speaking to TalksenseSports, Victor Yao Tetteh touched on the impact the course has had on him.

“The course was very practical based and has fully equipped us. I would love to see cricket coaches upgrading their skills through regular ICC coaching courses and impacting them into players. I will also play my part effectively to ensure the game is loved not only by kids, but by everyone in the community”

Currently, the Ghana Cricket Association is pleased to have two trained Tutor Coaches; Obed Harvey, who is the senior national female team coach and now Victor Yao Tetteh.

Victor Tetteh is the secretary of the Volta Cricket Association and a level one Coach who teaches at OLA SHS. His passion for Cricket has seen him organise several activities in the region.

The Ghana Cricket Association continues to equip its members, especially from their hubs in an attempt to develop and promote the sport across the length and breadth of Ghana.
