With cheers amidst joy and jubilation, Students and staff of Adjena Senior High Technical School (ASTECH) received Honorable Thomas Ampem Nyarko and his entourage on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, to their campus.

The Hon. member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, was honoring a promise made to the headmaster of the school, Mr. James Affadu to help reduce the furniture deficit of the school by supporting them with desks which he believes will aid smooth teaching and learning.

After a brief welcome address by James Affadu, Hon. Thomas Ampem, revealed the genesis of the desks’ donation, and said he is giving an initial quantity of one hundred (100) with a promise of bringing more once the carpenters are done fixing them.

“This is a befitting School Even though among the 5 public Senior High Schools in Asuogyaman, Adjena has been poorly endowed with infrastructure, but your performance was apar and even better than some of those schools that were better endowed. So, it tells you, that it doesn’t depend on where you study. But I also agree, that infrastructure play a major role in teaching and learning. That is why, on Independence Day, 6th March, when I met your Headmaster and he showed me pictures of your siting arrangements, I didn’t like it and within the shortest possible time, I have managed to bring a hundred pieces of desks. Knowing the problem will worsen when the first years arrive, we needed to do something immediately. I am planning to bring more.”

The Caring MP also told a little story on how they got a Library for the School, while encouraging the students to study and come out with good grades.

“I am excited, because in the year 2014, a course mate of mine from KNUST called and said, we should come and do something in one of our schools and I said, we should do it in Adjena. After our investigations and realizing there was no library, we afforded a container and furnished it because we didn’t have the resources to put up a magnificent library for you. And that is what you still see there. My only advice to you is that, make all of us proud by passing your exams. I took time to look at the qualification of your teachers here. You have some of the best qualified teachers here in Asuogyaman.”

He as well emphasized on the numerous provisions to the school by the erstwhile John Mahama led NDC government and himself.

“This school has grown. I was shocked at the numbers here. I remember during President John Mahama time and when I was the DCE, there were limited structures here and we came to add up.”
