Hydro scare Twinkle Stars as Super Kings ease away Fire Batters in Asuogyaman Cricket League

Zone 1 of the Asuogyaman Boys U-19 Community T20 Cricket League began with 2 matches honored at the Akwamuman SHS Park on Saturday, June 17, 2022, as Abuakwa Super Kings and Tortibo Twinkle Stars recorded their first victories.

Tortibo Twinkle Stars was scared by Mangoase Hydro, who took to the wickets to score 64 runs, all out in 13.2 overs, after the latter won toss.

The Twinkle Stars took their time to get the wickets, while Hydro push for more runs, in the innings that lasted for 1 hour 4 minutes.

In the second innings, Twinkle Stars had 5 wickets dismissed after 5.3 overs, till Benjamin Oloko (20-21, Not Out) restored the game with Daniel Tetteh (6-6) and Gabriel Teye (11-10) and scored 67 runs, for 7 wickets in 10.5 overs. Oloko, who came on as the 3rd batter and lasted 46 minutes, was adjudged Player of the match, as he took 1 wicket, gave away 21 runs, in 4 overs.

Twinkle Stars won the game by 3 wickets and bagged their first 2 points.

Earlier, Abuakwa Super Kings saw off Senchi Fire Batters by 38 runs after Super Kings won toss and decided to take the lead in the first innings.

With a great partnership between captain Prince Addae (26-36) and Harry Otibo (14-23) in the middle order, Super Kings scored 93 runs for 9 wickets in the first innings and restricted Fire Balls to 55 runs, all out in 15.2 overs.

After the 5th over when Senchi was at 31 runs, a wicket fell in every other over. Senchi lost it in the beginning and in the middle, with wickets like Ebenezer Botwe (12-15) and Ernest Kpendey (9-22) falling.  

Desmond Owusu, who took 2 wickets, gave away 7 runs in 2.2 overs and a wicket maiden over (2.2-1-7-2), was adjudged the Player of the Match. Desmond, after giving away 6 runs in his first over, took 2 wickets in his maiden over.

As the players get used to the semi hard ball and the protective equipment, matches continue on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Akwamuman SHS Park with week 2 ties.
