For years Kasoa traffic lights are not working, and the reasons behind these malfunctioning lights is self-made problem.
Investigations proved that the lights have been deliberately switched off for personnel from motor traffic and transport department(MTTD) to use manpower instead of technology.
According to the decision makers, when the lights are on, it creates massive vehicular traffic as compare to police directing affairs.
Therefore it is more prudent to resort to manpower than putting the lights on.
Speaking to several people within Kasoa central business district they totally rejected that claim. To them, if that assertion is anything to go by then there would be no traffic lights in Accra because thousands of vehicles which enters the capital on daily basis and yet they have manage to keep traffic going, it defeats that theory and are urging them to switch on lights to help reduce the stress police officers go through.
“If the lights are not functioning properly work on it and stop worrying the police all the time,” one quizzed.
The calls for the restoration of Kasoa traffic lights are so loud and it is up to city the authorities to listen and solve issue now.
“There is no need of traffic lights here if we can’t use it,” another opined.
