Kotoko Board reject decision by management to terminate Gyamfi’s contract & departure of 7 other players

Majority of Asante Kotoko board of directors have expressed their displeasure over the club’s management decision to offload eight players ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Management of Asante Kotoko announced earlier this week their decision of release eight senior players who have deemed as surplus to requirements by the new technical team of eckub led by Prosper Narteh Ogum.

The players who were deemed as surplus to requirements included one of Asante Kotoko’s influential players in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, Emmanuel Gyamfi who’s the deputy captain of the Kumasi-based club.

Others were Kwame Adom Frimpong, Emmanuel Sarkodie, Abdul Latif Anabila, Samuel Frimpong, Ibrahim Osman, Godfred Asiamah and Habib Mohammed.

According a report filed by Kumasi-based radio station Silver FM, majority of the board members of the club have kicked against the management decision to offload eight players including the deputy captain Emmanuel Gyamfi.

Few weeks ago, Asante Kotoko skipper Felix Annan, Augustine Okrah, Martin Antwi, Richard Senanu and Wahab Adams left the club following the expiration of their respective contracts.

The Porcupine Warriors after a trophyless season and are looking to establish a formidable side this time in order to compete for both the league and the FA Cup trophy under Prosper Narteh Ogum.

Asante Kotoko have already signed eight players namely Clinton Opoku, Richmond Lamptey, Maxwell Agyemang, Samuel Boateng, Isaac Oppong, Richard Boadu, Augustine Agyapong and Samuel Appiah.
