Krystal Palace losses painfully at home to Nania and drops on the log

It was as painful as missing a flight to your dreamland; Akosombo Krystal Palace dropped vital points at home to Nania Fc in the relegation battle game at the Akotex Park on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

The Match Day 27 tie which was characterized by poor officiating by Kwadzo Appiah Nyarko, also saw the pride of Akwamu lads wasting several chances and losing by 1-0.

The first chance came through under 1 minute of the game played but the touch by Samuel Nanaba Ankomah missed the post by inches.

4 other chances came the way of Nanaba and another for Kennedy but all could not find the back of the net before recess.

3 minutes into the second half, a crossed ball found a push leg and against the run of play, Nania were ahead.

There were changes to push more men forward, as Emmanuel Martey and Mohammed Kabiru were brought on. Nanaba was found by Martey but shot was off target. Kennedy Tu-Leo kept on with his dashing runs on the flank, creating spaces but pull outs gets cut out or shots saved.

The simulations by Nania became too much while referee gave no warning or card.

Referee Appiah Nyarko could take a ball from Krystal player, after a foul is won and later give it out, just to delay time and slow attack of Nania.

He was behind Michael Cobbinah when he chested a ball down from a throw in while Krystal was pushing for the equalizer but he whistled for hand ball.

Krystal kept on pushing but the referee denied them a possible penalty after Tu-Leo was brought down in the penalty area in the 88’.

Emmanuel Essel, who had then come on for David Anderson shot for 20 yards out but was against the post for goal kick. For all the simulation and delays without warnings and cautions, 5 minutes was the added time and Nania run away with the maximum 3 points.

Referee Appiah had to run for his life after the final whistle went but the Police rescued him and ensured he left the park via their car.

“Most time we when we go to games and we create a lot of chances and couldn’t make good use of it, automatically, you will be punished, so that is what happened to us today. We had lots of chances especially in the first half but we couldn’t burry them, but it is part of the game though. score and we were punished. It is left with 3 games to go, so we have to get back and work extra harder and make sure we come out of it.” Coach Otis Asante said after the match.

Krystal who were hoping to jump out of the red zone now sit just on top of Yongwise with 27 points with 2 separating them and Nania Fc as well as Kwaebibirem.

An away fight with Tema Youth is next on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the Tema Stadium. The pride of Akwamu lads, are hopeful of still maintaining their spot in Ghana’s second tier league come next season, with 3 more matches left to wrap up the 2021/2022 season.
