The Match Day 24 encounter between Akosombo Krystal Palace and Liberty Professionals played at the Akotex Park ended in a goalless.

With few but glorious chances created in both halves, Samuel Nanaba Ankomah beat 2 of his markers and surges forward but was clipped in the 3’.

Aboah Kofi Donkor missed a pass from Esmond Nana 3 minutes later in another attack which could have been a glorious opportunity. It was *a midfield affair all throughout with few surges by Liberty and an equally splendid defending by Bernard Holdbrook Smith, Donee Adabla, David Anderson, as well as Yaya Musah, not forgetting Mohammed Kabiru.

Selorm Loy Klogo brilliantly intercepted a counter attack which could have caused Krystal in the 37’. Not long, David Anderson on the overlap found a long ball from Yaya Musah beating everyone on the left, but his shot went over the bar.

Before the break, captain David Asare tried a shot after a clearance from a freekick but the ball was always rising. Donee Adabla’s freekick after Nanaba was brought down just outside the box, had no rebound as the goalkeeper couldn’t make a first-time grab.

Krystal pushed more for the dead lock breaker, 3 minutes into the second half with a freekick for David Asare but was pushed away by the goalkeeper. Donee Adabla was in pain and was replaced by Jacob Kwasi in the 55’. Moments later Holdbrook Smith committed a blunder punishable by a goal but Anderson was there to recover.

With 25 to play, Esmond Nanor was out for Emmanuel Arthur and provided an assist for Aboah who missed by inches to a tapping in.

Krystal kept piling the pressure with 2 consecutive freekicks but all couldn’t produce goals. Kabiru who looked exhausted and was substituted for Amos Tetteh, while Frank Adjei Danso replaced Yaha Musah tactically in the 73’.

It was Frank from then, as he beat one marker but his second touch was too much in the 78’. The fans grew wild as Frank came close again in the 84’. He beats a defender after which the ball bounced back to him in a 50/50 situation with another but he shot went over the bar. For the 3rd time, fans expressed worry, as Frank fails to pick a wonderful pass from Anderson a minute later.

Amos then added to the yellow cards (Kabiru earlier) for pulling as the clock ticks down. With 5 minutes additional, Krystal could only do with the stalemate and still remain 14th with 26 points.

Interim Head Coach, Otis Asante commended his defenders.

“Liberty is a good side, so in the first half we were not trying to create an opening but in the second half I revised my tactics so we get at least a goal. We did our best but couldn’t find the back of the net. The defenders were resolute today. They were focused and didn’t allow Liberty to have their way through.”

David Anderson was for the second time this season adjudged the Man of the Match for his exceptional play.

The result became the 4th time the Pride of Akwamu lads have failed to score at home (Tema Youth, Accra City, Youngwise). On Sunday, May 8, 2022, Krystal Palace travels to Asuom to face Kwaebibirem for Match Day 25.
