It was full of Joy, as the technical members of Akosombo Krystal palace beat the Krystal palace fans in the Easter Monday games at the Akotex Park on April 10, 2023.
Before the intriguing football game was a nerve-racking Cards playing encounter which also saw the technical team winning by 685 to 645 for the fans. With few minutes to end the game, the technical team led by Fitness Coach, Moses Kofi Bledjumah and Team Manager, Obed Tawiah, were 80 points clear at the top but the fans drew level and 5 minutes extra was added.
Beginning the extra time, the fans took a 20-gap lead but the technical team fought back to emerge winners.
The football game began with a lot of anticipation but all was settled after 60 minutes as the technical team won by 3-1, thanks to a brace by Team manager, Obed Tawiah and a cushion by MRO, Davis Nii Attuquaye Clottey.
Obed, found the back of the net, when Massage therapist Ibrahim Sumaila beat an offside trap and laid a pass to him to finish in the 15’ after the defense of the fans had denied the technical team few chances.
The 1-0 lead was enjoyed till the 28’ when Operations, Samuel Gameli Attror was unable to stop a through pass that found Eric Odonkor who was onside and slotted it without Goalkeeper Kofi Bledjumah having answers to it. The first half ended 1-1 and it was time for strategies. The technical team changed their formation, as well as the fans, who pushed more men forward for the kill but were mostly caught offside.
The fans actually took control of the midfield as the technical team kept gasping for breath and defending deep and counting on counter attacks with great defensive works from Operations duo, John Okume Lawer and Gameli Attror, as well as Raskota and Oliver. One of their counter attacks saw a foul on Obed Tawiah by the goalkeeper, resulting in a penalty that he beautifully converted in the 48’ to make it 2-1.
The fans doubled their pressure for an equalizer, pilling more men upfront but one pass led to the other and they were punished again. A long pass from kit manager, Oliver Darkpe to Chairman, Daniel Boateng in the midfield, who beat dazzled one man and found Obed Tawiah on the right flank, who also located MRO on the far left and Davis made no mistake, slotting it in for the 3rd goal in the 57’.
It was time to try shooting from long range but Goalkeeper Kofi Bledjuma kept watching the ball fly over for goal kicks.
The fans were disappointed in themselves having lost the game and would call for a return match, while the technical team share in joy amongst themselves.
The Technical Team really exhibited resilience and toughness to win the match and expects their playing body to emulate, with Coach Kofi Ntow Gyan at the bench, giving some tips.
It wasn’t dry games, as there was banku and weevi stew and others, with assorted drinks keeping the team together on the holiday.
Akosombo Krystal Palace Academy is a division One Zone 3 team that currently lie 4th on the league log with 34 points. They are pushing to finish the league on a good note this season.
