As part of activities to celebrate the Founders’ Day, Legonite Handball Club in Accra, made a trip to Ho to engage in a 1-day friendly encounter against Ho Stars Handball Club on August 4, 2023.
The game, played at the Ho Sports Stadium saw lots of handball enthusiasts to cheer the players on, as they fly to score and jump to block balls.
Legonite took the lead with a powerful goal before Ho Stars drew parity. However, Legonite took a 3-goal lead, half way through the first quarter (12-9) but Ho Stars battled through, dispossessing the former in most attacks and were in front (16-15).
It was a close tie for long till Legonite broke away with a two-goal lead till the game ended 32-30 for Legonite against Ho Stars.
There was a crunch meeting to discuss handball growth, after the entertaining match with executives of the Volta Regional Handball Association, some Referees (Sanni Adebayor Muniru, Kennedy Ofosu, Desmond Tettey and Doris Gavor), Executives of the Ho Stars Handball Club and Legonite.
Legonite also had a team dinner on August 4, before departing to Accra on August 5, 2023.
The Legonite trip, ably supported and approved by Club President Mrs Lilian Kyei Ampoma, saw Legonite pay a visit and a short meeting with the Volta Regional Handball Association Chairman, Togbe Palmas Howusu at his residence, before the holiday match.
Legonite had played a friendly match with Ho Stars in April this year at the UG, Legon Handball Court, which ended 29-28 and this was a return leg.
Legonite Handball club are currently not participating in GAHA league after finishing bottom in Zone A last year with 1 point due to the absence of most of their players, who were on national service assignments.
They however want to focus on other visions of the Club, while embarking on trips outside Accra to play Handball and have fun.
