Asikuma Power Hitters produced a wow performance against Anum Super Sixers, with a 3 runs victory on Saturday, May 28, in the ongoing Asuogyaman Boys U-19 T20 Community Cricket League at the Asikuma Presby Park.
The week 2 of the Zone 2 league saw Power Hitters scoring 19 runs, all out in 7.4 overs after Anum Super Sixers won toss and chose to field first.
It was frightening and nerve breaking, as the brilliant bowling and fielding skills from the Super Sixers quickly dismissed the batters of Asikuma Power Hitters, whose coaches had no antidote, but to just watch on till the innings break.
Super Sixers’ Philip Odei was the hero of his team, taking 4 wickets in an over, while the Power Hitters stood at 15 runs. Odei’s total bowling figures, after 2 overs stood at 4 wickets, giving away 1 run with a maiden over.
His counterparts, Sampson Obiri and Samuel Agbeve took 2 wickets each, gave away 6 runs apiece in 1.4 and 2 overs respectively in the innings that lasted for 43 minutes.
It was almost certain, that the Super Sixers, having lost their first game to Frankadua in week 1 will grab their first victory, with 20 runs from 120 balls and 10 wickets to protect but Coach Leonard Arko and his Power Hitters turned things around.
Godsway Fiave and Richmond Ofei took turns and just before they could wrap up their 4 overs each, Super Sixers were all out for 16 runs in 7.1 overs, with the Power Hitters winning by 3 runs.
Everyone, including Super Sixers themselves couldn’t believe their eyes, as it was all questions like ‘How did that happen’, ‘what was that’ and what have you, were frequent on the lips of all, not excluding spectators.
Godsway Fiave was adjudged player of the match as he took 4-0-8-4 while team mate Richmond Ofei took 3.1-0-8-3.
In the Other game, Boso Terrific Hitters cruised to another victory against Frankadua Century Batters. The Century Batters scored 17/10 in 8.2 overs, after the Terrific Hitters had won toss and elected to field first. It paid off for the toss winners as they scored 18/3 in 4.5 overs and won by 7 wickets.
Prince Obiri won the Player of the match. He took 2-0-7-3. Century Batters captain, Issah Sani got his name on the bowling figures sheet with 2-0-7-2, while Isaac Darko of Terrific Hitters also took 1.2-0-3-2.
Terrific Hitters top the table with 4 points. Century Batters follow with 2 points and -0.7 NRR, tied on 2 points with Power Hitters who has -1.7 NRR. Super Sixers languish at the bottom with no point and -0.3 NRR.
The week 3 and final matches for Zone 2 comes up on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Asikuma Presby School Park.
