MTN FA Cup: Dreams Fc take another step in defending their title

Defending champions of the Mtn Fa Cup, Dreams Fc qualified to the last 8 of the knockout competition after thrashing Division One side Koforidua Semper FI 4-1 at the Theatre of Dream Park, Dawu on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

The round of 16 encounter was a highly anticipated match, as it was between the GFA President and Vice.

Semper FI, that eliminated Vision Fc at the round 32 conceded an own goal in the 6’ when defender Donee Adabla missed his clearance from Derrick Attah Agyei’s pull out from the left flank.

28 minutes later, wonder kid Abdul Aziz Issah shot from 20 yards to get a cushion (2-0), with goalkeeper Michael Appiah, having no chance of saving, as the shot was unexpected.

Semper FI created few chances for themselves but could not find the back of the net before the break as they came, hitting the post.

Agyenim Boateng Mensah, got the 3rd goal for the Still Believe lads in the 63’, with a feeble header, as a scuffle found goalkeeper Muntari on the ground with the defenders caught ball watching. Substitute Simba Sylvester added the 4th goal with 4 minutes to play, but not after Augustine Koomson saved a penalty, he caused in the 70’ minute, denying a consolation from Semper FI.

The Koforidua lads finally found a consolation on the 90+3 minutes through Ebenezer Kobia from a corner kick.

Dreams, are going strong this season with the three separate competitions. They will host Club African from Tunisia this Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports stadium and will hope to win and progress to the knock out stage.
