Some placard-wielding supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were at the Alisa Hotel in Accra to register their displeasure over the modalities for next month’s National Congress by the Special Electoral College.
According to laid-out modalities, the Congress will be held in all 16 regions as was done in 2014.
The Congress is to whittle down the number of flagbearer aspirants to five for the November 4 showdown.
However, 3news.com gathered some aspirants had petitioned the party’s Steering Committee on the modalities, seeking a centralised event.
According to the sources, the aspirants want to address the delegates in order to canvass for more votes.
Though this was earlier denied by some of the aspirants, the placards carried by the protesting supporters confirmed the earlier reports.
The Steering Committee meeting is being held at the Alisa Hotel.
It is unclear what final decision the Committee will come out with as all the aspirants and their representatives are in the meeting as well.
