Astute football administrator, Abbey Pobee has made a passionate appeal to the owner and bankroller of the Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to intervene and help settle the alleged Nana Yaw Amponsah and Board Chairman Kwame Kyei impasse.

According to him, the two cannot resolve their differences as the issue is beyond them.

Nana Yaw Amponsah, who is the CEO of the club and Dr Kyei are in a rocky relationship, according to several reports in the local media.

“I’m very much surprised about the happenings in Asante Kotoko because I appeared before the Lydia Nkansah Commission with Dr. Kwame Kyei. I know all that transpired there, ” he told Kumasi-based Hello FM.

“The motive of Otumfour was to ensure that the administration of the club follows the modern trend.

“But what do w see? Are they administering the club as a corporate entity? The club is lucky to have a King like Otumfour.

“Looking at where the issues have reached I think we should leave it to Otumfour for an amicable solution. The matter should be referred to Otumfour.

“The situation is very bad and it looks as if the situation is beyond what we have been hearing in the public because there is division in the board of directors.

“Before the formation of the board, Dr. Kyei had started some work at Adako Jachie. At a board meeting, he presented all the drawings about the whole complex but upon the suggestion by the CEO to put up a new facility with containers, it called for voting and the majority of the board members voted in favour of the CEO.

“But meanwhile, the man had begun something already. The supporters were even willing to assist when he started erecting walls.

“He even made available some funds for the continuation of the project but what did we see,? The majority of the board members are in support of the CEO.

“So clearly there is division in the board and I think Otumfour is the only person who can solve the problems at hand. It’s beyond what we hear outside, ” he concluded.
