Prime suspect in Abesim murder charged and remanded by a court in Accra

Richard Appiah who was arrested for allegedly killing three kids in Abesim has been charged with murder and remanded by a court in Accra.

Appiah who is a surveyor was remanded into police custody by the Kaneshie District Court on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

The Court, presided over by Ms Ama Adomako Kwakye, preserved Appiah’s plea.

Appiah, who was without legal representation, is expected to reappear on September 15, this year.

The Police on Wednesday, August 26,2021announced in a statement that they had exhumed the intestines of one of the murder victims in Abesim near Sunyani in the Bono Region.

According to the statement, the Criminal Investigations Department on Tuesday, August 24 2021 discovered a place where Richard Appiah knew his vicinity as ‘Fire’ buried the intestines of one of the murder victims.

The intestines, according to the statement, “were buried in a cocoa farm in Abesim which the Police have since exhumed for pathological analysis and forensic examinations in Accra.”

“The investigation team has also worked around a septic tank and other places of concern for further examinations.

“Two sharp cutlasses with bloodstains used by the suspect to commit the crime were retrieved from the scene,” the statement added.

The Police in the early hours of Saturday, August 22 arrested and placed behind bars 28-year-old Richard Appiah, in connection with the crime to assist the police in investigations.

The police in collaboration with some members of the community helped in arresting the suspect.

Appiah allegedly murdered his 12-year-old relative and kept the body in his room.


A further search by the police discovered some human parts, including two human heads, in a refrigerator in his room.
