Prosper Tachie elected Ashanti Regional GNAT Chairman

Mr Prosper Tachie, French tutor at T.I Ahamaddiya Senior High School in Kumasi, has been elected the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

The former Wesley College of Education trainee polled 310 votes representing 51.32%, to beat his only contender, Mr Owusu Kwabena Nketia, who had 294 votes representing 48.68%. 

The Association elected its executives during the Ashanti Regional GNAT 53rd delegates’ conference held at Ejisu in the Ashanti region.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Tachie, praised the teachers for the manner they conducted themselves to ensure a smooth and successful election.

He expressed his excitement about the victory but was quick to note that it was a victory for all union members.

He promised to work diligently with both present and past executives to ensure the welfare of the noble profession within the Region.

He commended the members for the confidence reposed in him for such a position and asked for peace and unity among members so as to enable him to execute his mandate effectively.

Prosper Tachie had his basic and secondary education at Kuffour D/A JHS in Nkawie in the Atwima Nwabigya District and Toase Senior High School respectively.

He recently graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi.
