Ras Binghi Cricket Club honors Icon this weekend

In honoring the iconic Ghanaian cricketer, Ras Binghi, the Ras Binghi Cricket Club based in Saltpond in the Central Region have lined up activities for the upcoming weekend, starting Friday, September 16, 2022.

The late Ras Binghi, played a pivotal role in the development of Ghana Cricket in the 80’s having trained lots of players including the current national Coach, Kodam Anafie and the U-19 Coach, Francis Bakiweyem.

Known in real life as Philip Salathail Taylor, he has also trained Henry Benjamin Ackom, current board member of GCA, COO, Prince Eugene King, Development Officer, Lawrence Ahadzi and President of Ghana Lacrosse and Africa, Rusfus Ntiamoah and many others how to play Cricket.

On Friday, there is a talk about Ras Binghi, scheduled for Saltpond Club house at 6pm, with a Beach Cricket game pegged at 8am at the Saltpond Ocean Beach. To crown the weekend honor of their icon, a memorial Reggae night takes center stage at the Saltpond Ocean Beach at 6pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

There will be a Lacrosse game as well on Saturday and President of the Ras Binghi Cricket Club, Francis Ayikai Okine shared his expectation in a brief interview with TalksenseSports.

“We are expecting everyone to come join us celebrate our icon. We also expect that we grow from grass to grace in Cricket and Lacrosse in the region and Ghana as a whole. I want to use this opportunity to thank these dedicated teachers who ensure we run the Club successfully, Reuben Charles Pobee Okine, Enu kwamina Thompson, Emmanuel Domie and Syslvester Tonny Arthur, also to my Mother and Wife for being there for me.”

The entire membership of the Club invites all Cricket lovers and Lacrosse lovers across Ghana to come celebrate and honor the iconic Ras Binghi with them.
