Rustum Gameli Senorgbe nominated for Male Referee of the Season at the maiden GFA Awards

Class One Center Referee, Rustum Gameli Senorgbe has been shortlisted for the Best Male Referee Accolade at the maiden Ghana Football Association Award slated for Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra.

The Ho based Referee after a sterling performance in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier league season, impressed the committee who have also shortlisted Best Assistant Male Referee, Best Female Referee and Assistant officials of the game as well.

In contention for the Male Referee of the season has Julian Nunoo and Dr Osman Imoro, who also had great seasons.

Rustum was involved in 17 matches in the 2022/23 betPawa Premier league, with 14 as Center Referee and 3 as 4th Official. He also officiated 2 MTN Fa Cup matches and 2 as Fourth Official. He has also handled 5 Division one matches and back to his region Volta, officiated 7 division 2 matches.

Rustum on January 28, 2023 was decorated with a Special and Meritorious Award by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) for his outstanding show in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

The Awards night which is to celebrate excellence will also have Footballer of the season for Premier and Division One, Coach of the season, Goal scorer of the season and special awards like best branded Club, best supporters among others are to be honored.

Gloria Sena Kumedzro, a young and enterprising assistant referee from Ho, who had a wonderful time on the lines in the Women’s League has also been shortlisted for the Female Assistant Referee of the season.

Rustum wrapped up the season under review at the Duns Park with his 40th Premier league game since 2019, as Bibiani Gold Stars shared the spoils 0-0 with Accra Lions. Up for greatness, #RusRefair is dedicated to pushing him to the top.
