Samuel Awatsonya makes a permanent move to Berekum Chelsea from Kings Palace

Sensational forward, Samuel Awatsonya is now a Ghana premier league player with Berekum Chelsea, after the 22-year-old penned down a 3-year deal with the ‘blues’, following a successful move from division one side Kings Palace Fc.

Sammy, who rose to the senior team of Kings Palace Fc in 2022, became the club’s top scorer for two seasons, scoring 10 goals (3 in Fa Cup), and 4 assists in 32 matches, for the 2022/23 season and scoring 9 goals with 6 assists in 28 matches for the 2023/24 season.

The prolific striker, with a year left to play from his 3-year deal with Kings Palace Fc, completed the move before deadline day of transfers, joins former team mate Haruna Shaibu, who became a ‘blue player’ in February 2022.

With 2 MVP’s each, he scored a brace in the 2022/23 season, against Volta Rangers on Sunday, March 29, 2023 (matchday 21) and scored another brace in the 2023/24 season against Golden Kicks on Sunday, December 24, 2023 (matchday 12); all at the Akotex Park.

Awatsonya, known for his ability to win 50/50 balls, and shoot at all ranges, will be wearing the #45 jersey when the 2024/25 season begins.

Sammy loves to drop deep to defend and is swift on counter attack. His agility and speed, coupled with quick thinking on and off the ball will help the blues maintain decent games and compete for the topflight trophy.

Berekum Chelsea, the 2010/11 league champions begin their 2024/25 campaign with a journey to new entrants Vision Fc on Saturday, September 7, 2024 and strong right footed player is likely to make the squad for that trip.

From the Akotex Park in Akosombo to the Golden City Park in Berekum, Samuel Awatsonya is hoping to replicate and score more goals for the club to improve upon their 3rd place finish last season.
