The senior national men’s cricket team departed to Johannesburg via the terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport yesterday, September 13, 2022 at 10pm, for the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) T20 Africa Cup Final in Johannesburg.
A 14-man squad and 2 officials made the trip for the tournament that begins from, Thursday, September 15, through to Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Benoni, Gauteng province, east of Johannesburg.
Ghana begins their Group A campaign on Friday, September 16, against Mozambique at 9:30am local time (7:30am Ghana Time), a match 3 fixture on Main field.
They will also battle Uganda at 14:00 (12:00noon Ghana Time) on Saturday, September 17, for their second match, also on Main Field, and wrap up the single round robin game against Botswana at same time on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
The tournament, with Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi and Cameroon in Group B will see the top two teams in the group stages qualify to play in the semifinals on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, with the finals scheduled at 16:00 local time at Main Field.
Ghana, having recorded a 100% winning feat at the qualifiers in April 2018 in Lagos are hopeful of making it to the finals and bringing the ultimate home.
The team returns to the country on Friday, September 23, 2022.
