VIDEO: Two NPP members injured in a free-for-all fight at a funeral

Two members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are reportedly injured following a free-for-all fight between members of the party in the Suhum constituency.

According to a report filed by JoyNews, the party’s Lower West Akyem Communications Officer, Bernard Kwesi Amoani, was allegedly cut with a cutlass on his forehead by the driver of the Suhum MP.

Again, Alexander Odei, is also reported to have sustained serious injuries on his lips at the chaos which ensued on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

According to an eyewitness, the violent incident occurred at the funeral grounds of the late father of one of the party’s communicators known as Opare.

The report indicates that the attack was between supporters of the Member of Parliament, Kwadwo Asante, and a Presidential staffer, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, affectionately known as Protozoa.

The followers of Mr Asante allegedly cast slurs on Protozoa, who has made his mind to contest the incumbent MP for his seat in the party’s next primaries.

One of the followers of the presidential staffer, popularly known as Big Deal, allegedly took a microphone at the funeral grounds to announced that Protozoa and his cohorts have been prevented from greeting the MP.

The supporters of the MP allegedly got infuriated and attacked him, leading to violent attacks at the funeral grounds.

The driver of the MP, whose name was given as Jamalo, allegedly inflicted a deep machete wound on the head of the communications officer.

The victim was taken to the Suhum Government Hospital, got treated and discharged.

The Suhum district police command has since launched investigations into the case.
