It was a beautiful atmosphere as the Volta River Authority (VRA) Tennis Club were presented with the 23rd Phoenix Insurance Tournament Trophy after clinching a decisive 8:3 victory over Tesano Depot Tennis Club at the AIS Tennis Court, Akosombo.
In the single matches, VRA demonstrated dominance with captain Alfred Okang, Isaac Narh and Richmond Kortey securing wins against Tesano’s John Fletcher, George Heckson and Frank Quartey respectively.
Transitioning to the doubles, VRA continued their winning streak with five (5) victories, while Tesano Depot managed three (3).
Notable pairs included, Nana Kum Awortwi and Richmond Kortey defeating George Heckson and Alhaji Bilal Bin Hassan. Additionally, pairs Daniel Aggrey/ Daniel Dzogbatsah, Kweku Boateng/ David Glover emerged victorious in their matches.
Other VRA doubles pairs comprised Ing Akim Tijani/ Paa Kofi Grant, Benjamin Klortey/ Godfrey Attah Jackson and Shanu Lamptey/ Serwaa Yeboah had great games on the one-day event held on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Chairman of the VRA Tennis Club, Dr Eric Borbi received the coveted trophy on behalf of the triumphant club with joy.
