We lost more than 2 million dollars due to COVID – Silverbird manager

Sliverbird Cinema Manager, Obiri Tetteh has stated that the COVID-19 pandemic did not only affect the cinema but also several other industries connected to cinema operations.

Speaking to Metro TV, Obiri Tetteh said they lost more than 2 million dollars during the lockdown.

The president in consultation with the Ghana Tourism Authority announced the reopening of theatres and cinemas in the country in June 2021after they were shut down due to the CZoVID-19 last year. The theatres and cinemas have been shut for over 16 months.

Cinema operators, movie producers and artists were all unhappy about the closure and petitioned the president to reopen the venues.

The cinemas were eventually opened and the business manager for the leading cinema house in the country, Silverbird Obiri Teeteh said his outfit was massively affected.

“I don’t even want to make it look like Silverbird again There is a livelihood of the whole industry that was being lost,” he told Metro TV.
